THRILLING RACES

Eight thrilling events were stag- ed at the mid-week galu of the Shanghai Rowing Club last week when a capacity crowd led the natatorium to witness the races.

The feature event of the night was the ladies' Lub, race. This was an amusing race since the contestants must sit in a small wooden tub and row with only one ear. The result is that the tub keeps on turning round instead of gliding forward. Many of the damsels upset their tabs and thei spertatore reared with laugher al the funny nalies.
