Carnarvon, June 1. Mr. Lloyd George, as chairman of the county magistrates, presid ed for the first time since his ill- 18 over the County Quarter! Scanlons here to-day.

Mr. Lloyd George examined Owen in Welsh, and pointed out to the alvocate that he must prove his case by showing that Mr. Evans had given the licence to Owen.

The append was allowed. Mr. Lloyd George announcing that the magistrates were unanimous that no case had been made out.

Nanking, July 11. Madame Sub Yat-sen left Nanking last night in order lodge a personal appeal on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Noulens, who are hunger-striking owing to the re- fusal of the authorities to transfer their trial to Shanghai.-Router.
