Essex Bowlers Thrashed By Young Indian.

Nazir All, of the All India team, had the satisfaction of recording the only century in the last three days of first class cricket, when he whipped the Essex bowlers to the extent of 109 ruga. The match was, however, left drawn.

Essex did not shape too well when they first went to the wicket, Amar Singh doing some good work with the ball to take 5 wickets for 49 runs. The County's total was 169.

To thin the Indians replied with the excellent score of 307 for 7 declared, Nazir Alf lending the way with some masterly batting.

Essex did much better in their Recond venture, totalling 142 for the loss of опе wicket before atumps were drawn.

According to Section E of Rule 13 of the English Bowling Asso- ciation, whole-time and part-time paid green keepers and whole- time and part-time groandemen are deemed professionals while following their calling, but can be reinstated as amateurs upon censing to work as auch.

As these seven Wimbledon Cor- poration officials are now dubbed park attendants they are not. I take it, deemed professionals merely on account of their calling. Some of the seven will welcome this change. They have long winked to shade in competitive bowls.

The K.B.A. will, however, have to watch more closely the status of a number of men who in other directions are to-day making large Hunt of money out of the game.
