NEW YORK, May 13,

T THE DESIRE OF COLONEL LIND- BERGH, WHOSE FACE REVEALED THE TERRIBLE TORTURE HE IS UNDER- GOING, THE REMAINS OF HIS MURDERED SON WERE CREMATED TO-DAY.

Colonel Lindburgh was still cruising in a yacht scouring the Chesapeake Bay regions when the discovery of the body was made. He was firmly convinced that he was at last on the definite track of the kidnappers and his child when the dread discovery was made.

It was nine hours before the terrible news reached him. A wireless code had been arranged to enable the police to communicate with him in the event of any de- velopment on shore, but the yacht's wireless broke down at the critical moment.

Mrs. Lindbergh was on the verge of a breakdown, as she stood by the telegraphist, almost frantic with the shock of the destruction of her hopes and so anxious to get into touch with her husband, and waited while he vainly signalled to the yacht.

Communication was not re-established until mid- night and when the news was received, Colonel Lind- bergh rushed the boat to land and took a fast car travel- ling at top speed for two hundred miles, on his journey home. He was practically in a state of collapse when he arrived.
