The annual Conference of tho National Association of School- masters at Sunderland passed a re- solution criticising the May report. Mr. Haydn Davies, of London, who moved a resolution regretting the Government's attack on the educational facilities of the masses, sald that the President of the Board of Education boasted that he had saved more money than he was expected to save by the May report. The resolution was carried: - Concern at the passing of the village schoolmaster and his in- fluence among rural communities was voiced by Mr. A. A. Shares, of Leeds, who deprecated their no- placement by women.
