MASTER OF SUI TAI FREE FROM BLAME

INQUIRY ENDS.

The Marine Court of Inquiry

Into the collision between the #8. Venezia and the B. Sui Tai, which opened yesterday, ended with a verdict in favour of Cap tain Pritchard, the master of the Sui Tai. The Court held that he was entirely free from blame in the collision, and that he had acted rightly in his manoeuvring operationa.

-Captain Thomas Pritchard, mas ter of the Suf Tai, said that he cast off the wharf at Macao at p.m. on March 12. The veszel cleared the Beacon at 2.30 p.m. and the engines were put at full speed about len knota. The courae set Wag East quarter North Ile then passed over charge of the

The weather was clear, cloudy and overcant. He heard the "tele Kraph" signal and went on the bridge. He noticed the weather becoming foggy and misty, with a visibility of about one mile. At 3.16 p.m. Cheung Chan Si was seen abean to the starboard about one mile away, and at 3.43 p.m. Cheung Chau northern extremity was abeam on the starbeard side about a quarter of a mile away.
