COMDR. DAVIES LEAVES HOTEL

Shanghai, Feb. 18. Commander Davis, retired Bri- tish naval ofleer, aged 80 years, has now agreed to leave his hotel, the Fort Hotel at Woosung, where he iunisted upon staying through- out the bombardments, flying the British flag over his house.

Inle and hearty, the veteran is now safe in the Settlemont, having been brought to Shanghal by two British Volunteers who went in a launch to Woosung to rescue him.

The old man had to be persuad- ed to leave, and while the Volun- teers were urging him both the Chinese and Japanese coaned fire.
