In introducing the speakers, the Chairman pointed out that the sub. Jeel was of special interest nat only to medical practitioners and those who were undergoing Wen- tern training at the University, but also to those who were sick and in-health.

In the absence of complainants in respect of a quantity of cotton yarn which was found on board

sampan anchored off the prayn who wall recently, four Chinese appeared before Mr. Wynnu Jones at the Centrai Police Court yester day were all acquitted.

Mr. A. Covey represented the first two defendants while Mr. H. L. Dennys appeared for the third. The fourth was not represented.

At the outset Detective Sergeant Johnson, whe prosecuted said, that he had been instructed to with- draw the charge against the fourth defendant, as it was proposed to call him 18 A

the witness for Crown, but he would like to mon- tion that the Police had not been able to trace the owners of the yarn, although In the charge the China Navigation Company were stated to be the complainants.

In reply to his Worship the officer said that he did not propose to withdraw against the other three defendants but asked his Worship to discharge them.

All defendants were necordingly discharged.
