NEW EXHIBITS AT THE AQUARIUM.
SOME RARE MONKEYS AND A MALAYAN BEAR,
The Hongkong Aquarium, which is situated in Queen's Road Cen- tral, will, without a doubt, be a popular place of interest and educative entertainment during the Chinese New Year holidays, and it is therefore of exceptional interest that some new exhibita have arrived there this week.
Mr. Peter Sin on behalf of the accused, asked for leniency. Pleading the accused's youth in Among them are some entirely mitigallon of the offence. The

Mr. Sin: Really, I do not know what made him do such aallly thing as taking these cashier's orders.
In support of Mr. Sin's plea for leniency. Mr. Armstrong stated that Li had been a good employee for two years. He would of course lose his job after this, and the Bank felt satisfied it His Worship would not conaider sentencing him but requiring him to enter into a bond with his father as security. The Bank felt that he should be given a chance.
Mr. Armstrong: I may add also that I have seen this defondant on two or three occasions, and he appeared to me to realise his posi tfon and to be contrite for what he has done.
In addition there is
a fino specimen of a Malayan bear which is only eight months old, while not less interesting are some water snakes of a kind often con- fused with cols, These particular specimens, however, are extreme- ly poisonous and are well worth seeing.
It is also expected that some. new fishes will be arriving either to-day or to-morrow and will go to augment an unusually attrac tive display of animal life.
The aquarium will be open throughout the holidays from 10 a.m. to 9 pm.
