SERGT. WILLIAMSON COMMENDED.

SLUM REBUILDING.

Sergeant W. W. Williamson Wax highly commended for his gallant conduct during the recent · Pot. tinger Street fire by the Coroner (Mr. Schofield) and the jury Inquiring yesterday into the eir- cumstances of the fatal blaze.

The Coroner also made a plea, for alum rebuilding and wider streets as a means of relieving || housing conditions and minimising fire dangera, referring to the absence of adequate means of escape in the Pottinger Street outbreak.

The subject chosen for the in- quest was Chan Lin-fal, a seven- year-old boy, one of the seven per- Bons who lost their lives in the fire at No. 12 Pottinger Street.
