OBITUARY.
WELL-KNOWN LOCAL CHINESE DOCTOR.
Dr. Jou Hawk, the well known Chinese medical practitioner, was taken seriously on Wednesday afternoon at his office in Queen's Rond Central and passed away quietly at his residenco the same evening. His death has como as n great shock to his large circles. of foreign and Chinese friends, in- cluding those in medical and Christian circles.
A man of a quiet and kindly dis- position, the late Dr. Jou Hawk was one of the popular Chinese doctors in the Colony whore ho had practised for thirty-ond years since his return from the United States of America in 1900.
The late Dr. Jeu Hawk received his primary and middle school educations in America and later
Portland, entered the
Oregon. University where he graduated with an . D. degree. He pro- eeeded to New York after continued graduation and medical studies at a clinic whore he was held in the highest esteem by the Chinese Christians.

Long Career in Dongkong. On his return to China, the late Dr. Jeu Hawk practised for a very short period in Mavao, and later came to Hongkong, where he was engaged for over eight years at the Tung Wah Hospital. On leaving the Tang Wah Hospital, he work- ed with the Publle Dispensary in the Central District,

STUDENT CHRISTIAN UNION GIVING CONCERTS,
In aid of flood relief, the long- kong Student Christian Union held a concert at the Hop Yat Church, Bonham Road, yesterday evening. Over 700 seats had been sold and a capacity audience was present to greet the opening of a lung evening of enjoyment,
The chief contributors were Mr. Ma Sze-tung, a violinist, Miss May Yung, who played a number of ac- ceptable items on the plans, and
Chinese orchestra led by Mr. Yan Hok-chau. A number of girls from the Mui Fong, Young Chung and Fairlea Schools also appeared in individual and concerted items. The evening closed with a Two- Act Chinese Comedy.
There will be another concert at the Hop Yat to-night when the same programme will be repeated. The sponsors hope to be able to make a useful contribution Flood Relief of $2,000 from the proceeds of these two concerts.
