A 450-MILE TRIAL.

70 Finishers Out of 71 Starters.

The Riley Motor Club 24 hours trial-the first of its kind ever held in Britain-was brought to a. excecasful conclusion at Llangollen. Seventy out of the seventy-one starters completed the course; this is a remarkable tributo to the re- liability of the modern car.

The event was divided into two aoctions, night and day. Various starting points were fixed throug!!. out the country, and competitors drove all night to the rallying place. Brecon, in South Wales. Most of the distances from the starting" points to Brecon were nearly 300 miles.

After breakfast the day section began with a 160-mile course, large- ly over rough tracks on the Welsh mountains. Staylittle Hill and Bwlch-y-Grocs were included, und to avoid loss of marks competitors had to average 22 miles per hours over the timed sections of each of these hills.
