STERN ECONOMIES APPROVED BY BRITAIN'S CABINET. Budget to be Balanced by Hook or Crook, Embracing New Taxation.

COMPLETE SILENCE

ON DETAILS.

· PARLIAMENT LIKELY TO MEET ON TUESDAY AS ARRANGED.

CRITICAL SESSION.

THE CABINET of the National Government has encountered few obstacles up to the present in finding acceptable plans for balancing Britain's Budget and removing the cause of the perilous position of the pound sterling. Stern economies have been approved, the Cabinet's labours in this direction being complete. Even the Legislative Bills necessary to implement its decisions have been outlined.

The Cabinet still aims to meet Parliament on September 8, though there is still a heavy task ahead. It is considered impracticable to advance a scheme which does not include provision fór new taxation on a fairly considerable scale, and the Report of the Finance Committee is being examined to-day. When Parliament meets, just sufficient indications of the plans to enable a vote of confidence will be submitted, leaving the details for Mr. Snowden to announce later. "Failure to do our duty through-diture of which is about 40 million out this crisis would dishonour our pounde, proposals involving heavy Party and would be disastrous to expenditure are being held in the country," reads a paragraph inspense panding the reassembly a letter which Mr. Stanley Baldwin of
