The fion. Mrs. Elizabeth Pelly, slaughter of Lord Ponsonby, gave ovidence

Maidstone Quarter Sensions on July 26, in a case in which John Ludovic Ford, of Good- trees, Cowden, was charged with being under the Influence of drink when in charge of a lorry on July 6, Without hearing all the evidence for the defence, the jury stopped the case and acquitted Ford.

Ford said that he and his friend, Mr. Gordon Russell, and the Hon. Mrs. Pelly, motored to a dance at Maidstone. About 5 a.m. he had a business

altercation with Mr. Russell, and blows were exchanged, **with the result,"

had an accident and suffered from concussion, and this fall was un the Ame

After the quarrel his car was taken away by Mr. Russell. When he arrived home and learned that Mr. Russell had been killed in motor accident it was a great shock.
