A Parliamentary comedy which will be remembered for some considerable time was the unexpected climax to-day to the bickering and quarreling between the Li- berals and the Government over the amendment which the Liberals proposed to ad- vance to the Land Tax clauses of the Finance Bill. The chief result was the com- plete discomfiture of the Libe-f rals, instead of the defeat of the Government, as had been fore- cast on several occasions in thei past week.
