The death occurred last night of Lord Trent, formerly Clr Jesse Boot, founder of the great firm of retail chemists, Soots Limited, which achieved its immense suc cess under the control of himself and Lady Boat. He was 81 years old, and had made many hand- some gifts to the University and other institutions in his native town of Nottingham.

It was decided that the fourth Kuomintang Party Conference be convened on October 10; also that LI Chai-sum be restored to member- ship of the Kuomintang.
