In a flame and smoke, a home-made rocket sled was speeding across the ice of Oneida Lako, near Syracuse, at 75 miles an hour whan this striking night photo was taken. The driver and builder of the unique $22 vehicle was Harry W. Buil, 21-year-old Syracuse University student. The machine traveled 50 foot in two-fifths of a second and then stopped

short in slushy snow.
