It is announced from Lambeth Palace that the Archbishop of Canterbury has made excellent progress towards recovery from bla recent illness and has left London for a month's cruise in the Mediterranean.

Mr. Dalton stated that it was feared that Father Tierney, who has been held by bandits against ransom at Klenchang, in Klangsi Province, was dead, although rum- ours to this effect had not been con- firmed.
