The affair occurred in Canton Road, in the British Concession, and according to the rickshaw coolle's evidence the rickshaw was forced in towards the pavement by a passing motor-čar,

which immediately stopped, disgorging a number of armed men who bun. dled the compradore into the car and rapidly drove away.

Mr. Llang, who is 50 years of age, in an American returned student, and has been in Jardine's employ for twenty years.
