HONGKONG TELEGRAPH. THURSDAY, MARCH 5.

CHIANG' VERSION OF HU'S RESIGNATION.

HOW INDIGNATION WAS PROVOKED.

Nanking, Mar. 4. At a dinner given this evening to members of the Legislative Council. Marshal Chiang Kai-shek explained that his recent dispute with Hu Han-min was over the provisional constitution issue, and that all other rumours to the contrary were enirely without foundation.

"Recently Hu Han-min released to the press a statement against adoption of the provisional constitu- tion. This action was greatly re sented by many Government leader, and in fact the Control Council intended to bring an impeachment Agalast Mr. Hu. For this reason invited Mr. ilu to my house on Saturday evening to discuss the matter. We did not reach an agree ment, and Anally Mr. Hu told me he opposed the proposal for the sake of the Executive Council.

"I was especially indignant over this remark, and told Mr. Hu he could oppose the proposal for the welfare of the country, but certainly at for the sake of any individual. I said, were I in the wrong I would resign, Mr. Hu then officially handed in his resignation."
