There was an exciting finish to the cricket match on the Hongkong C.C. ground yesterday when the Hongkong Volunteers played their second game of the week against the Army. They

again had the first use of the wickets. but their batsmen were not as succcaa ful against the Kowloon CC, an Sunday. At the close of the Innings only 196 run appeared on the board. N. A. E. Mackay, claiming 32, II. Owen Hughes, 25 and R. H. Grimtha 22.

The Army had a disastrous open- ing, losing their first wicket with only four runs on the board, and five for 63 runs, but Fry and Salmon made a atund for the sixth wirket which put D11 51 runs before the pair, were runs separated, Fry scoring 61 Williams and Penny went out for a win but after the former was dismiss ed the Inst two men were unable to keep their ende up until the necessary runs were scored, the last wicket Calling when only one run behind the Volunteers' total,
