a welcome and striking anxiety to obtain representations for British Vehicles, and It Is, indeed, tending to become a problem now of choosing the best from considerable numbers instead of having to search avenues for distribution. It is interesting to observe in this connexion to what extent the growing popularity of the British light car has helped such a situation. The world is coming to realise that the virtue of road transport is a matter of economy of operation. and in this respect the type of road vehicle of which" Great Britain was the pluncer, is gradually becoming the forerunner of many types of vehicle sent out from Ita factories, Output.

There are numerous technical de tuils in the manufacture of new plug which cannot be gone in- to here. They concern the method of manufacture and and materials used. We are per- mitted, however, to reveal one fen- ture, which is a copper tube drawn round over the central electrode which the mien insulation is wrap> ped, which is employed to assist in conducting the heat away from the point.

We tried a set of these plugs, type K1, in the engine of a car in which the plugs had already been changed three times, trying out different brands. The troubles to be overcome were threefold. First, owing to the position of the plugs It was difficult to screw them down tight, for there was not sufficient clearance between the haxagon and the cylinder block to take a box spanner. Hence there was trouble with blowing back past the copper- asbestos washer. Then, when they

Even as recently as three years ago the Industry was looked upon is occasionally still levelled against it by those who have sot as displaying an alleged lack of enterprise, and while suck's charge appreciated the real position, there is now a growing volume of opinion that the efforts of Manufacturers have been generally upon sound lines and that the time is not for distant when the British Motor Industry will accupy that position in the markets of the World to which it. In the K.L.G. plug the hexagon is pinced higher up in the body, and therefore it is easy to screw it down tight with a bog spanner, which got over the leaking dieultics,
As soon as the engine was tried with these new plugs a remarkable difference in ita running was ob served.
it ran more quietly, more flexibly, accelerated better and the maximum speed increased. This was particularly noticable when taking a long hill fast, for, ander lond, drying-up and pre-ignition, which were occasionally observed with the previous plugs fitted, en- tirely disappeared. Since fitting the set the car has run about 500 miles without a. misfire, and its even ruing when the engine is idling at very low speeds is most mariced.
We are informed that quite number of owners of this car have fitted these plugs, with similar satisfactory results, and that they have also been used with success on very hot high-speed engines. The modern demand for very fast cara, which are, at the same time, reason- ably flexible on top gear, is thus met by the evolution of a typd of plug to comply with the new condi tions. We hear that they are being adopted as standard on a number of chgines next year, sometimes, it is interesting to note, replacing foreign plugs. The Hongkong Motor Accessory Company are the agents for K.L.G. Plugs in Hong- koog.

At the conclusion of the Exhibition this car will possibly be sent direct to South Africa where it will be utilised for calling special attention to the British Industry as it has in other parts of the Empire.
