Singaporo, Jan. 26. After five daya trial at the Assizca, William Brown Penman, charged with criminal breach of | trust, War unanimously found three 687.guilty and sentenced to

years' rigorous imprisonment.

The charge was in respect of $287,160.35. Mr. Penman Was Director and joint Manager of Bosc MacPhail and Penman, Ltd., share- brokers, of Raffles Place. It was revealed during the trial that the defalcations ineluded several sums which had been lost in gambling transactions by other members of the Arm. Penm wns charged with personal defalcations amount- ing to $225,000 while there werd jother sums owed by other members of the firm who had transactione with the firm and which they were unable to pay owing to their specu- lations failing.
