RUGBY FOOTBALL.

YESTERDAY'S GAMES AT

HAPPY VALLEY.

There were two rugger games at the Club ground yesterday afternoon, (the first between ʼn side from each of the Services, and the areund between a Navy fifteen und the Club "A" side. The Army were losers to the Navy by a converted goal, both having azored six points, the Army gelling two trics, and the Navy a penalty goal and a goal.

There was little to choose between the Army and the Navy, and neither side would have had much opportunity of scoring if it had been playing against the Club "A" sido in tho Inter game, The forwards, composed chielly of men from the Berwick and the South Wales Borderera, packed too tight, so that there was hardly room for the ball to be put inside the i serum, and many times the referco had to blow up for "feet-up.",

The referee was lenient, however,

the forward nearest the line to take the ball, inatend of the ball passing over two men's hends as is the rule as present. The same failure

Having the presence of Sattill in the park, the Navy had the belter of matters after they had settled down, and Pantog did his job in the hooking very well in the second half. Both the Army tries were scored in the first half, Galletly getting over near the flag for the first, and IIamil- ion repenting the dose soon after- wards, Jones failed with both kicks, though he was very near with the second.

Scoring in the second game came from David and Knight in the first half, Crawford converting the first try. In the second half, Koop was nearly In, but the Navy came back after being penned in their own territory for a time, and Fox fielded long kick, ran down the field, only four to be tackled: then three or Navy forwards dribbled the

the ball down, and Chambers picked up to run in well and score against the post, Nicholson put in an easy kick convert.

The Club sido turned out in thu game against a Navy fifteen WILM unbalanced, there being two or three good forwards, a useful three-quarter r two, and a prominent scrum-hal and full-back. The Navy, on eontrary, had a more than useful pack, and both halves did their work
