JOU can be anything you want to be this winter, su
far as clothes are concerned.
But a good mottu might be. "Be steel, if po
sible. Otherwise, be smart1"
The world is yours, if you are in the lucky class that can look sweet and very, very feminine.
Of course if you are uice and young, this should not be hard. The cut of your clothes, the little extras you wear with them. the colors and materials all are de signed to aid and aber this segue for sweetness.
What you wear would be determined by your type. If you are
decorative bit of humanity, you can afford. to have simple things, of rich beauty and classic line. If you admit to yourself that you are all right, albeit A speck plain, you can get clothes with a few lite touches that supply ornamentation that you may lack. Black is an excellent bet for you. If you are young. it is a perfect fuil for smooth skin and sparkling eyes. If you are not so young, it is one of the best bets for sophisticated chic. You can wear white near your face, or sume flattering soft colur. And it has that style that few colors possess.
1. WHATEVER your type, if you are a young per son, you will want at least one rich evening gown. Do not have a sophisticated brocaded metal cloth. They are too old for you. Look, instead, at some of the exquisitely dainty lame embroidered mousselines. They have such softness, are so pretty and lend themselves 19 lines that suggest movement, an excellent model for youth.
A gorgeous blue and silver lame embroidered mousse- line, on a pure white background, is youth personfied, and sweetness to boot. It is fitted, has an asymmetrical. volant zippling from one shoulder and ending in a one- sided train. Nobody but a young person should wear 1. For it takes a slender figure plus youth to carry the original model.
II. FOR sports, don't wear just anything. Dress up. Chantal makes an outfit just for you, if you are
in this category. It is a diagonal weave reddish brown tweed skirt, with a smart little short blouse of matching suede, made with a hem of the, skirt's material and a lot of fine seaming and lacing around the neck to make it very feminine. It has a scarf of the suede, for further warmness, and a felt hat banded in suede, the shade of the outfit. Cloves of a light shade help set it off.
III, FOR the streek, for travel, for town wear of any kind mornings, a Redfern ensemble in a laney Weave wool fabric, in gray and black, is novel a smart.
It has an unusual cape that is closed in front and swings into two scarfs in the back. A heavy hem of lynx keeps it in place. With the cape removed, the dress is a practical little thing, chúc as they make them, and youthful locking. It has line scaming, ending both front and back in double box pleats that give the skin fullness. A turban the wool has a feather fancy at one side of the back.
IV. A BLACK gown, designed to enhance that
sweetness you want heightened, is made of soft black velvet, with lace trim.
This, gown, made for formal afternoon teas, dances or receptions, is just as good for informal dinner wear. It is ankle length all around, has shirring through the waistline to make it fit the body, and a novel modern leg of mutton sleeve with lace medallions of ecro guipure lace.
The round yoke of the same lace- ultra-girlish and modest-looking. So is the full, long skin. With such a demure gown, no jewels should be worn, unless pearls please you, or one of the new little jeweled crosses, worn on a frugile chain.
VIF you are a little ship of a young person, with lots of dash, you will find this afternoon costume most suitable.
It is a little tiered skirt and bolero jacket outfit of a very oft faille, in a brocaded small all-over pattern. It is black, made with, silver and-white leaves embroid. ered around the waistline of the skirt that fits like a princess dress to the top of a belt. The silver and white. leaves take the place of a belt, in a very admirably dec- orative manner.
A little tuck-in blouse of white silk has a round yoke effect of the silver and white embroidered leaves. The cuffs that tum back over the bolero's sleeves have the same embroidery.
Worn with this is a necklace of silver and pearl beads. The little white hat, made of feathers, kiss a silver bow on one side and the other side is cut out, to expose your shining hair. This costume in very good under a fur coat, a practical costume if you are still in school. But it becomes any really girlish girl. ·. (Copyright, 1980. by EveryWook Magasino-Printed in U, B.'&)
