In appealing to members of the public to support the Mauriclo Phy- #ical Training Institute, Dr. Arthur Woo, speaking at the first weight-lifting competition which was held yesterday, detailed the advan tages to be derived from the gospel of physical health. Dr. Wao qulogis ed the training which Prof. Mauricio gave his pupils, and commented on the very auccessful results
of the Institute.
Dr. Yeo Kok-cheung, who holds the world's record in the eight-stone class for the abdominal rate with a lift of 71 pounds, ngaka demonstrated his strength in the competition yesterday and won the handsome cup presented by Mr. J. H. Lawrence. He averaged 6.41 pounds lift for every pound of his own weight.
The second prize went to Lo Koon- kan, whose average was 6.94, white Charles I. Chanatong was third with an average of 4.10. Chan Wal-shun averaged 4.69. and Francis O. Reed 4.45. Certifientes were also presented 34 the pupils for various feats nccom pijshed during the year.
