BRITISH MISSION IN JAPAN.
THE ECONOMIC DELEGATION REACHES TOKYO.
Tokyo, Oct. 30. The British Economic Mission arrived here this evening, repre-į sentatives of the Foreign Minister, the Japan Economic Federation, and Industrial Club, with the staff from the Embassy, welcoming them n: Tokyo station.
Special interest attaches to the fact that this is the first.trade mis- sion under Government avspices to visit Japan.
To-morrow, the Mission will be received formally by the Foreign Minister, who is giving a banquet in their honour at the Peers Club in the evening.
On November 6 the members of the Mission will be received in audience by the Emperor, while
the programme of their visit to Tokyo also includes dinners and lunches in their honour at the Embassy and by the Japan-British Society, Japan Economic Federa- tion, Industrial Club, and British Association.
After visiting certain shipbuild- ing yards and factories, the Mis- sion will proceed to Osaka to in- spect cotton mills, and so forth. Reuter.

Washington, Oct. 30. Mr. Green, the. President of the American Federation of Labour, has appealed to all groups to joini the movement to provide jobs and relief to conquer unemployment.
It is anticipated that the official estimate of 3,500,000 unemployed will be increased in the winter months to well over five millions.
Including the families depen- dent on such unemployed, Mr. Green estimates that over twenty million persons, or one sixth of the entire population, is threat- ened with acute need.Reuter's American Service.
