EVAPORATED MILA
Of course If a rice pudding is pale blue in colour and the rice is all swimming round, „people will get up from the table and think unjust things about rice puddings. But if your rice pudding is made with Milkmaid Evaporated Milk it will be creamy in colour-neither too thick nor too thin-and people who do not usually like rice pudding will eat it rather eagerly,
Milkmaid Evaporated Milk is pure country milk con centrated to the consistency of cream. It improves all milk puddings 100%.

France's 'Reserve.
The movement of gold and its ef- fect on trade and employment will be the chief preoccupation of these leaders in international finance.
The immenso reserve piled up by France, together with the flow of bullion from England, America and 50 much Germany, has attracted attention here that Mr. Harrison was proposing a visit to Europe to study the gold situation on the spot.
Dr. Luther, who recently took over the Presidency of the Reichs- bank from Dr. Schacht, has had a hard fight to keep the mark from tumbling following this week's shipments of gold. He was, how ever; so anxious to come to America that Mr. Harrison abandoned his project.
Dr. Schacht. I understand. was) originally coming here to lecture at universities, but his experience the strong man of German finance will make him a welcome figure in these discussions.

Both Dr. Luther and Dr. Schacht are anxious to dissipate the view that Germany is in peril of a Fascist revolution.

The visit from Mr. Montagu Norman this autumn will be in conformity with his policy or an- nual consultations with the Federal} Reserve bank chiefs.

1914. The improvement to the change in the habits of the people] has been attributed to the increas- ed amount of outdoor life and ex-. arcise. Lord d'Abernon, however, was convinced that the main causes for reduced druking were: to be found in the cost of liquor, due to high taxation, wise limita tion and spacing of hours for the sale of drink. He was therefore, strongly opposed to hasty modi fication either of liquor taxation jor hours of sale.
Lord d'Abernon further stated that he was

Ernest Winterton -M. P., who also gave evidence, had personalty investigated the relation between bad housing and public house drinking in several towns. He said that in his native town of Leicester there was a public-house on nearly every street corner. Manchester there were twice many publicans and pawnbrokers as bakers and grocers. He felt that the reduction of licenses did not necessarily mean a reduction in liquor sales. The licensee was only an agent, and the trouble was that the brewer and distiller were not restricted in their production. The main reason for the enormous development in the advertisement

They have also proved that while the gas fire warms it provides a perfect system of ventilation.
There are no fumes from the modern gas fire. There are pro- ducts of combustion, of course, as there are from any living flame. But these products immediately pass up the chimney or fue. As they rise they cause a gentle up- ward flow of used air from the room- system of ventilation, more perfect, even than that of the open window. That-is-why-a gas-warmed room is never stuffy,

Bankers here are worried about the probable shortage of gold for currency within four years, with the likelihood of a crippling in- fluence on trade expansion and em- ployment. Then again, there has been a significant revival of the famous old agitation for a revalua tion of silver as currency on a higher basis,
Advocates of this change in the Western States demand an inter- national discussion to establish a fair ratio between gold and silver, declaring that the fall in silver has frozen the purchasing power of Asia, thus adding to the hard times in Europe and America,
