Japanese, who head the local baseball League, had a day off over the week-end but have not lost their place, although they are still followed by South China. The latter did not outclass Texaco on Saturday to the extent that recent form indicated. Texaco put a very different, nine on the diamond and although their puny hitting put success out of their reach, kept the Chinese down to single runs. The four one score was a fair indication of the in- `teresting game.

Ed. Chang was not dangerous but Texaco could not get on to him. Russakoff, hurling for Texaco, was outstanding and mix- ed them well.

A fierce storm is raging over Great Britain to-day- and very rough seas are reported round the coasts. The gale begun yes- 1 teday evening and a wind velocity of 61 miles an hour, was experienc- ed at Valencia in the South West of Ireland and not 'much less at the Scilly Isles and along the Eng- lish Channel,

This morning the gale grow worse and in the Straits of Dover 2 it was said to be as bad as any experienced there for some years. The wind force is as high as 70- miles an hour. Most of the ship- 2ping in the Channel has been taken 2to shelter.

This morning many people at Folkestone watched a big Imperial Airways liner fighting her way in- land. She was at times apparent- 6ly held stationary by the terrific 1 wind but arrived safely at 1 Lympne.
