T'S a wise girl who goes in for atmosphere this season.

You may not have realized that this is the year par excellence to be what you've pictured yourself in day dreams.

It is a year, indeed, to make these day dreams of your

·loveliness come true. Certainly you can find apparel this year that will give you atmosphere enough to really be what you have that yen for. Charm, beauty, perfect poise, flat- tering colore, these are attainable in profusion.

In fact, you carry your atmosphere with you, if you so desire, this season. You will have so much glamour about you that it will spread itself. like a great cloud of glory about you, in front of you and behind you, so that every- one who sees you will marvel and remember. What more can a girl ask?

A SINGLE frock, the psychologically perfect one, can lift you into that luxury clars that has. atmosphere. A wardrobe filled with these costumes, such as dreams are made of, will establish you as a tremendous success among your friends who know you well, but now will fear you. In fact, the clothes this year are so captivating and ravishing that if you choose rightly every w, pan will envy you and every man pay court. That is the test of your appearance.

Most of you girls may work, since practically everyone does work, either from necessity or from choice. You will want suitable things for the office. But should your life end there? Should you not brocade your daytime activities with the pattern of nights spent dancing with the men you like. dinners with friends, week-ends of house parties where you will meet culture, art and congeniality?

Use your imagination and pick a few clothes that will give you the atmosphere you want, the standing that will get you into the crowd you like best.

I FOR the first formal dinners, you should have a little tailored jacket with your dinner dress. One of the new ruddy browns, trimmed with either real ermine or white lapin is elegant.

The dinner gown is of brown chiffon, made with a heart- shaped neck and an ankle-length even skirt that flares from abigh hipline, a new form of fullness. The little jacket fits . jauntily and flares out all around. The sleeves are the new

three-quarters. and, of course, gloves reach up over-the elbow, With this a neckline is more appropriate than a long pend. ant necklace and perhaps a brooch to match at the front of the gown. If you wear a bracelet, it should match and be worn over the glove.

II. WHEN you need pajamas, for instance, you might choose a tailored pair that gets its charm from being almost naively simple. Such a suit is made of polka dotted blue and white crepe de chine, with a white blouse and blur sailor's tie. The coat can be plain or dotted.

III. YOU should try riding, if you haven't already, for a

canter in early fall puts the spring into your spirits. Be original in your togs. How about a nifty pair of jodhpurs made of beige gabardine, topped by a Colonial gilet, sleeveless, of course, made of yellow woolen flannel? The white blouse is of a satiny crepe called flot de'ecune, and has its own stock and tie.

IV THE newest winter medium for formal gowns or

ensembles is the heavier fabric. Faille silks, brocaded satins, metallic brocades, these are of first-water importance and if you are in doubt, choose one of the three.

Black is excellent for evening, especially for formal wear. A black faille ensemble, trimmed with black tulle, is a regal outfit for you to select.

It has a most enchanting gown, one with a low flounce made of rows of fine tulle and just a small band of the" tulle outlining and softening the formal decolletage, The coat is a little dolman, made with shirred flouncings and a collar that stands high in the back and is cut in one with the body of the coal.

With this a gleaming pendant, perhaps pearls, diamonds, and a cabochon colored jewel is perfect. And, of course, a bracelet and ring, if you can afford to add these touches,

V. broadcloth in an aquamarine shade is used for this flattering coat with its gray fox collar

V FOR early autumn days, you should have a warm out- fit, but not necessarily a dark one. There are richer shades to be worn when the snow fics. For the first cold fouches you might still delight your fellow creatures" eyes by sponsoring a femininely delicate ensemble.

Such a flattering one is of aquamarine blue, with the coat made of broadcloth, soft, gleaming broadcloth, and the frock of crepe in matching shade. The coat has two very new fex- tures, a belt across the back and a semi-fitted front that but- tons up double breasted.

The sleeves have a graceful cuff, one that has scalloped edges which almost but not quite meet each other on the out- side. The collar of gray fox is attached around the neck, but the ends swing loose when it is fastened under the chin.

The frock under it has its long sleeves decorated with fine linen cuffs and a collar of the same. The felt hat has only s little self-banding,, tied in front in a bow.

Since fur collars are much lighter and fluffier than they were last year, letting their voluminous appearance give way to a less massive effect, this fox collar meets the new vogue per- fectly. The fact that the coat uses cuffs of its own materia! tends to enhance further the collar by giving it a background unbroken with other trimming..

VI. EVERY one of you should have a romantic evening dress. If you are fair, you can do no better than stick

to the soft pinks or blues or dead white. And there are certain features about the season's evening things that you will do. well to watch. Square necklines are good, fitted bodices and hips, skirts of even all-around length, to the floor or easy for dancing.

An exquisite new gown is made of light pink tulle, with several layers of the tulle making a princess body-line and the long, flaring skirt ending in curved beauty. With this crys tals are excellent, though, of course, diamonds are just right if you happen to be one of the envied minority who have them.
