Felicitous Speeches.

At the conclusion of dinner, Dr. Lew Yuk-lin, toasted the health of Senhor Tamagnini Barbosa, wishing him success in all his endeavours. and congratulating him on the excel- lent results of his splendid gov- ernorship of Macno, while assur- ing him of the lasting friendship and esteem of the people of Macao. Mr. Henrique Nolasco da Silva, Chairman of the Macao Municipal Council, referred to the splendid results of Senhor Barbosa's stewardship of the government of Macao, in the midst of troublous times, and assured the Governor that the many public demonstra- tions of regard for him were evid- ence of the public appreciation of his administration, and of his ef- forts to preserve happy relations with Macao's neighbours.

Dr. Horacio de Carvalho spoke of the Governor's readiness to shoulder the burden of govern- ment in a most difficult situation, and stressed the personal interest that Senhor Barbosa has taken in every phase of the colony's development.

Returning thanks, Senhor Tama- gnial Barbosa thanked them all in his own name and his wife's for the affectionate terms of the speeches. It was with a full.
