Aerial Mishap.

An aeroplane belonging to the Kwangtung Provincial Air Force made forced decent in the river off Canton city on Saturday morn- ing. The plane was flying over. the city, having just taken off from the aviation field at Tai Sha Tau, when the machine developed engine trouble. The pilot, Commander Tang Hin-klang, perceived that be could not get back to the aviation field, and, in order to avoid as much injury as possible, he brought the machine down on the Pearl River near the East Bund.

The machine received very little damage and the pilot was able to swim ashore. The plane was im- mediately taken in tow by launches and beached on the Honam side.— Our Own Correspondent.

OFFICIALS CONSIDERING.

Canton, Aug. 19. General Auycung-kue, Com- missioner of Public Safety, has 'made a suggestion to the Pro- vificial authorities that blood- hounds be procured for the Canton City Police Force -to assist them in their work.

Statistics recently issued by the Bureau of Public Safety reveal the fact that there are an average of ten cases of kid- napping occurring in Canton daily, and, according to the Commissioner of Public Safety, bloodhounds would prove · ex-' tremely useful in these cases to track down the kidnappers. The Provincial authorities have promised to give the mat- ter their earnest consideration. -Our Own Correspondent.
