$124,203 WANTED..

At to-day's meeting of the Finance Committee of the Legis- lative Council H.E. the Governor. will present for consideration several items of supplementary expenditure for 1930, amounting- in all to $124,203.

The sums required for the various items are as follows:

Treasury, Personal Emoluments 8.900.

The Secretary of State for the Colonies has selected Mr. Edwin Taylor of Sierra Leone to fill the Dost of Deputy Treasurer in Hong- kong at a salary of £1,200 per annum. Mr. Taylor left England on 29th May, 1930.

A supplementary vote is requested to cover his salary from 29th May to 31st December, 1930.

Imports and Exports Department: Other Charges: Laboratory Stores $1,000.

Certain items of

apparatus and chemicals are urgently required by, the Imports and Exports Department in connexion with the collection of Liquor and Tolacco Duties and also for the Tax on Petrol. No funds for this expenditure were provided in the 1930 estimates. A vote of $1,000. is requested for
