PLAYER TALKS HIMSELF INTO FAME.

Silence is golden. Little child- ren should be seen and not heard. And all the other axioms of the same purport to the discard.

Here is the story of the boy who couldn't keep quiet, who talked all the time, and who by reason of his loqunciousness became one of the best known actors in New York:

He is Edward G. Robinson who left Broadway, for the first time in sixteen years to play the role of a guaman in "Night Ride," Uni- versal's sensational picture of the newspaper game and gangland, which opens on Thursday at the Queen's Theatre.

Robinson began talking when he was 10 years old, shortly aften he arrived in New York from Buchar est Rumania. "1 liked to talk," he says. "It didn't matter much what it was about, as long as there was talk and I could take part in it. At school I took part in all the debates and evenings I participat- ed in the declamation contests at the settlement houses in our dis- trict. I won prizes for my talk and finally reached the New York Uni- City college and Columbia versity...

"There are three professions in which talking is paramount--the pulpit, the law and the stage. chose the stage and, well, here am".

In no other special construction at Fox Movietone City, have build- ers reproduced a more impressive local for many of the principal scenes of this compelling romance of this Latin American country. The action, which includes a mortal conflict between two who are jealous about the same girl, is also true to the locale.

On the production schedule some interesting exteriors are listed for near Yuma, Arizona, Victorville, California. the Mohave De sert and Northern Mexico, and Alfred Santell, the director, has to avert progressed painstakingly

Romance of Rio Grando," which is, at the Queen's Theatre, gives Warner Baxter a role approaching his characterization of Cisco Kid in "In Old Arizona," and bids fair to surpass in popularity this first sensation of the talking films.

Mary Duncan and Antonio More- no are featured with Baxter, and an unusually high class supporting cast includes Mona Maris, Robert Edeson, Agostino Borgato, Al- Jiminez, bert Rocard, Solidad Majel Coleman, Charles Byers and Merrill McCormack,

"Forgotten Faces."

An authentic detail of prison life, copied from the regular daily routine at a real penitentiary, was enacted at the Paramount studio in Hollywood recently. It was the night lock-up, during which all of the convicts are returned to their cells and locked in.. It was taken during the filming of "Forgotten Faces," a contrasting melodrama of society and crook life, which is showing at the Majestic Theatre to-day.
