Some months ago, I started wife-hunting. I was leading a solitary existence.in a great city, and I wanted warmth and com- radeship and love.

Alas! The quest is not ended. Health, beauty, and cheerfulness I have found, and good compan- ions for the casual hour. But at Ilfe's mate-no!

There has always been some- thing wrong. Joan was beautiful but shallow. Iris was a spoilt child Cynthia was charming, but a dreadful flirt. And what could be more wearing than to flirt through life?

There were several others. Betty would only be happy amid a host of admirers, and it was not for me to be but one of a dozen mothe around a flame. Jane was too masculine. Hilda was always right. And so it went on.

Nowhere did I find the Insting warmth and comradeship I sought. The modern young woman has none of the cheerful loyalty of the war-time girls.

She should learn from them or from the middle-aged. For there we find thousands of men and women of past generations still in love with one another, though time has laid its hand on beauty, and interests have tended to diverge.
