The bazaar was officially opened by His Excellency, Sir William Peel, who was accompanied by Lady Peel. They were met at the en- trance by the Hon. Mr. S. W. Tso, Rev. A. D. Stewart (Principal, St. Paul's College), Mr. P. S. Cassidy, Sir Joseph Kemp and the Rev. W. Walton Rogers.

After His Excellency had in- spected a guard of honour, formed by the St. Paul's Troop of Boy, Scouts, the opening ceremony was conducted in the house.

Red Letter Day.

The Hon. Mr. Tso addressed the gathering and said that that day would be marked in the annals of St. Paul's College as a red letter day, by the honour Sir William and Lady Peel had accorded them by coming there to open the bazaar, They were very grateful to Their Excellencies for their kindness in consenting to open the bazaar, the object of which was to raise funds to help the extension of the school. On behalf of the College Council and the members of the Extension Building Committee, he tendered to Sir William and Lady Peel their

heartiest welcome. (Applause).

Before he asked His Excellency to declare the bazaar open, Mr. Tso said he would ask the Rev. Mr. Stewart to say a few words about the School, which was the first educational institution in this Colony, since the British flag was unfurled here. Mr. Stewart was the Principal of the College until recently, and the great success of the College, was entirely due to his work. He had handed over the principalship to his brother, Mr. E. G. Stewart, but he would not rest until this extension scheme had succeeded, and he would still help them and take a great interest in
