Systematic Looting.

The "Reds" began by looting the Magistrate's Office and the Tele- phone Administration. On account of its proximity to Chaoping the residents at Swatów were most excited when they re- ceived a telephone request for as- aistance on Monday morning, stating that thirty of the wealthy residents, including the daughter of the manager of the Chinese telegraphic administration, had been carried away by the Com- munists for ransom, the "Reds" re- treating towards Fukion on Mon- day.
