pearance.

The lady-part comes in the way you look. After all, even on the court or course, you will be given the credit for seeming what you look." And it is just your own fault if you do not look the part of the expert sportsman this summer. There never were such delectable togs de- signed for the great outdoors.

In the first place, every single sport you may pick has its own particular style of togs. You can have linens, silks, reps, wide-wale pique, jersey, tweed, cottons or any other fabric you want for any sport. And you can have any color. But the specialization comes in cut.

I, FOR golf or country club wear I suggest a polka dotted jersey, navy blue on white. It is a new type of frock, a sleeveless jumper over a mannish little shirt that lies a polka dotted tie in a smaller dot. Shoes are blue and white and there is a purse and beret to match the frock's material.

II. ALL this talk about greater freedom for women certainly is given a boost by the new tennis logs. You can play in shorts this year, he comfortable, look cute as creation and have enough room to stride after the hardest drive without giving a thought to being cramped by flapping skirta.

When you finish playing your game and join the crowd on the country club porch for a cooling drink or two, there is a skirt to match your shorts at which you can slip on very quickly, and there you are, every inch a lady!

"The newest of there tennis shorts suits you will find is the "chukker suit." It has shorts pleated into a yoke which buttons onto the chukter shirt which tucks into the shorts. The skirt has a yoke, too, which buttons over the shorts.

One of these comes in soft blues, a new sports color for the tennis courts. It has a border of harmonizing blues and the little collar which buttons under the chin is made of the border.

IV. there's intrigue in this pale pink jersey bathing suit with its hand-blocked rose arid black shorts.

You can open this wide when you want to play, or you can wear it shut. Take your pick. You will find the short sleeves comfortable and there is no denying their chic.

III. YOU must go down to the sea stylishly or stay away from the beach altogether this year. New bathing suits are stunning. New beach outfits are even

cuter.

Mary cottens, hand-blocked linen, paisley prints. cretonnes, terry cloth, and a variety of other colorful patterned materials are used for the beach. But silks are too. You can have what you want.

If you want to hang your clothes on a hickory limb and not go near the water, but stay pleasantly on the sands, by all means pick a coolish pajama set. Foulard makes, some mighty cute ones.

Very new and very feminine is the little suit that uses polka dotted foulard, in a shower of white dots against a lighter-than-navy blue, and tucks a cape-sleeved blouse. into them.

White silk pipes all the seams, giving a decorative touch to the pajamas. They are cut with fullness but not exaggerated fullness. The little blouse is suntan back and the way the cape points down in the front is a becoming line. - A shallow crepe de chine beret is worn with this, or a big, flopping bat.

IV THERE are a few rules you should abide by in

** picking your bathing suit. It should have over shorts or a little over-skirt, which you don when you emerge dripping and flop down on the sands for a nice heating through by old Sol Sun.

The two newest colors for the bathing suit are pale pink and pale blue. You may think they are funny color, after all the gaiety of vivid hues. But you will discover they look tremendously chic against the white sands and the blue of the water.

A little import that might tempt you or give you ideas. is tricky as can be, with a little one-piece suit of the fo- est of pale pink jersey, with your initials done in two pinks and a black right up on your left shoulder.

V. brown and white are com- bined in a mannish, taf fored. flannel yachting cos- tume.

There is a scarf like your suit to wind around your long-short bob. And over this suit you put the cutest nestest, trimmest little hand-blocked printed shorts of pink and rose flowers against duli black linen. They are pleated to make them virtually as full as a skirt and fit well over the hip to give them awark

There is also a big bag of the same material for your cigarets, make-up, book and whatever else you will want on the beach.

V. YOU may not have been yachting before this stuk

mer, but so many folks are devotees of that pleasant sport that chances are you may have an invite. Or, whether you yacht or not, certainly you are apt to be near the water and it is quite seemly to wear a nautical costume.

Brown and white is the latest color combination for you for the yachting outfit. And, of course, you must be all dressed up in brass buttons. An attractive yachting outfit has a trim tailored coat of brown flannel, man- nishly tailored with double breast, patch pockets and notched lapelt. It has a little white anchor on the pocket, for a feminine touch.

The skirt that goes with it is white flannel, made with a deep yoke that fastens with a double row of brass buttons too. A cotton mesh shirt, with short sleeves, has a little bow of brown ribbon at the neck. Brown-and white sports shoes, mesh stockings and a white flannel beret will see you through any day" on the water with, real distinction.

VI. ANOTHER golf ensemble uses checks, zigzag

stripes and plain material together to create a most distinctive and vivid linle outfit. There is a plaid blue and blue skirt, cut gored, for a change, with a band- ing of bright blue flannel across it. The jacket matches this in color and the little tuck-in blouse is made of the sweetest voile, a new trick for coolness and originality, with lingerie touches in the form of hand-faggotted collar and cuffs.

Topping this is a bright blue blocked hat, faced with white and banded with white grosgrain that ties in back.
