COURT STORY OF 4 A.M.

CAMBRIDGE VISIT,

Undergraduates thronged the public galleries at Cambridge As- sizes when five men were charged with conspiracy by "false pretences and subtle devices" to obtain £30 from "Mr. H."

Mr. F. D. Levy, prosecuting, said that "Mr. H." was a Bachelor of Arts of Harvard University, and an American citizen studying at Cambridge.

The accused were:,

Leon Victor Hartard (alias Albert Jones), 20 chauffeur mechanic; John Henry Wylde, 20, cook: Thomas Edward Pearce, 24, motor driver; Ted Lewis, 29, me chanic; and Patrick Quirk, 20 pro- fessional dancer.

Quirk was also charged with obtaining £10.

All pleaded not guilty.
