The above photograph shows the members of the graduating class at the 18th annual Commencement of the Shanghai College. The class was the largest ever graduated at the Shanghai College, being composed of 13 girl students and 63 young men. The picture was taken on the steps of the chapel building few minutes before the ceremony.

A military tribute awaited the body of Albert H. Washburn, American Minister to Austria, who died in Europe, upon arrival in New York. Here you see the flag-draped casket, placed upon a gun caisson, as a guard of honour escorted it from the piers. The body of the dead envoy was accompanied from Europe by Mrs. Florence Washburn and bər son, Albert.

The annual dinner of the Shanghai Rowing Club proved a decided anoceas. The dinner was held at the club house in Soochow Road and some 50, members who attended the affair agreed that it was one of the most enjoyable in the history of the organization.
