Such, in brief, is the romantic career of Professor Wright.

His will is no less interesting than his life.

He died on February 29, at Thackley, Banbury-road, Oxford, at the age of 74; after being a professor for 24 years..

One of his bequests was £100 to Leicester Royal In- firmary, in consideration of the kindness shown me at the in- firmary in 1900". To bis wife he gave

On the death of his wife the remainder of his property goes to Leeda University, on trust for the endowment of a scholarship or scholarship in the English and German languages, as the univer- alty authorities in their sole dis- cretion may decide.

Probate of his will has

been granted to his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Mary Wright, Pro fessor George Stuart Gordon, Professor of English Literature, of Magdalen College, Oxford,' and' Professor John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, Professor of Anglo Saxon; of Pembroke College, Ox ford.
