The huge lumber freighter Losmar, leaving Vancouver, B, C., for the Atlantic seaboard, crashed into the Burrard Inlet bridge in Vancouver harbour. The vessel struck the main span head on, pushing it from its piers into the water. The mishap cut off all trans- portation except ferry between Vancouver and settlements on the opposite shore.
