a man who ran amok with a wide-bladed knife. One of the victims is the son of the manager of the bank, two are the sons of the assistant manager and the other two were the sons of Chinese employees of the concern. They all received terrible wounds and a ghos_ly sight met the gaze of other employees when the alarm was raised, blood dripping from the upper floors of the premises to the ground floor.
The man who ran amok is alleged to have wounded one man and then inflicted an injury in his own throat. He threw the weapon away but secured three more. A cook engaged in
a desperate struggle with him for possession, using a blanket to avoid being wounded, and eventually secured the weapons. The bodies of five victims have been sent to the mortuary while the injured man and the one alleged to have run amok are now in hospital.
