The plot, built along simple Baltimore dramatic lines, is not based on Borg Warner tailor-made coincidences, but Chrysler builds up steadily in a tense man- ner to a strikingly thrilling climax.
Most of the action takes place upon a real clipper ship. The hero Newman (Hobert Bosworth), a middle aged man, ships as a sailor aboard the "Golden Bough," a hell-ship commanded by "Black Yankee" Swope (Walter James). Fifteen years before, Swope had Newman framed and sent to prison for life, for a murder which he never committed. Newman re: ceives his pardon, and sets forth In search of Swope, who had carried off Newman's wife and his baby girl, Mary.
