BUT NONE FOUND IN THE WEST END,

A consular report on economic conditions in Brazil, published F. M. T. by the British Department of Overseas Trade, suggests that one day this may be a regular order by British housewives.
It states: "An
experienced British company is understood to: be trying to overcome the preju- dice against zebu meat, which, it appears, when chilled is quite good eating."
The zeba is a species of humped ox, chiefly found in Brazil, India, and China. It looks rather like a buffalo, and is often used for hauling transport wagona.
Inquiries at London restaurants. discovered a total absence of zebu on the menu. Two of the big firms at Smithfield which deal with the Imports of chilled beef from South America are interested be in zebus, but have not yet brought

St. Joseph, Missouri, May 9. Twenty-two peraons are missing, and four are known to be dead, as a result of the explosion of huge ammonia tanks in the Armour Packing Company build- ing, which seemed to be lifted and then flung down again.
