was handed over.

The complainant's wife im- mediately recognised the basket the man was carrying as being hers but she could not identify him as being one of the robbers. In the man's possession were found a torch and a pair of pliers. On the information of the man the second defendant was apprehended. Both were put up for identification but neither the husband nor his wife-picked them out.

The complainant, from the be- ginning, informed the Police that a man named Hing Hung was the person who had stabbed him. This man was arrested the following day,, whilst working in a shed not far from the complainant's. These two men had formerly been in partnership which was later dis- solved. When arrested, the third defendant made no attempt to escape and a strange feature of the complainant's allegation was that while the third defendant was a Punti the other two defendants were Hakkas. The third defendant had a witness who would say that he had gone to sleep in his own shed that night, but the witness knew nothing more until the early hours of the morning.

The evidence against the second defendant was his atatement that he had been asked to accompany the men to commit the robbery but he intimated that he refused- and stood by some distance away while three men went to the matshed. The case against the third defen- dant was the allegation of the com- plainant, although his wife did not corroborate him there as she would say that she did not see the defendant.

The hearing was adjourned.
