COMPARATIVE SIZES OF THE SUN AND THE PLANETS
Here's a "road map" of the skies that points the way to the location of the new "Planet Z." Begin with the Big Dipper (that's familiar to all), follow the arrow to the North Star, and then come due south to the two bright stars directly overhead. Castor and Pollux. Just south of them, and slightly west, is the new planet, although it's too faint to be seen with the naked eye.

largest of all ocean liners. The beam, or breadth, is 42 feet 6 inches-two thirds that of many small passengers liners.
This happy parallel from Jeans's book was quoted by Sir Oliver Lodge at a National Liberal Club recently, when he discuss id "Some Ideas in Modern Science,"
Speaking of the reported new planet discovered by the Lowell Observatory, in the United States, Sir Oliver said he hoped it would turn out to be a planet.
Jeans, our own astronomer, Sir Oliver continued, had a theory of the birth of the solar system. The earth was a child and the moon a grandchild of the sun. The new planet seemed to fit into (the picture.
It was important as showing that we were really a Tamily derived from the sun.
"If anyone says afterwards that it is a comet, that will spoil the thing," added Sir Oliver, amid Taughter.
The lesson of astronomy was that humanity had a short past and a tremendously long future That fact should be of the greatest encouragement to those now work ing and building for the destiny of the human race.

Princess of Seas..
The cost of the Corsair is up- ward of $2,500,000 and her ton-| nage will be 3080. The famous presidential yacht Mayflower, re- cently withdrawn from service by President Hoover, was only a launch by comparison. It was of only 180 tons.
Two Morgan traditions have: been carried out with this new princess of the sea. All of the Corsaire have had black hulls with white super- structures, and rakish masts forel and aft the single stacks. And this yacht will be powered, by steam, as were all the others.
The economy of Diesel engines: had no appeal for J. P. Morgan, nor would he make any sacrifice to speed or power. That is why the Corsair is fitted with the steam turbines and electric drive which) only commercial liners can boast. She is a twin screw yacht with two independent power plants. A third turbine-driven generator, capable of lighting a small city. supplies the electric power for living quarters and controls..
