The object of the Conference is to adopt throughout the Far East uniform code for visual and for telegraphic storm warnings, and a uniform code for the transmission of daily weather reports. Also to come to an agreement with regard to the broadcasting of synoptic weather reports by each Weather Bureau; the object being to secure the requisite number of observa- tions for each Bureau without overlapping.

H. Bell, Mr. C. Bernard Brown, Hon Mr. W. E, L. Shenton, Hon. Mr. C. G. Alabaster, Dr. S. S. Strahan, Mr. E. Davidson. His Excellency Major-General J. W. Sandilands, Hon. Sir Shouson Chow, Mr. Wong Kwong-tip, Bishop Valtorta, the Very Rev. Dean Swann, and Mr. J. L. McPherson.
His Excellency was greeted with a bugle salute by two members of the Somerset Light Infantry, who, after Mr. Shaw had delivered his speech, rendered the "Last Post" with the Union Jack at half mast, following this with the "Reveille," after a two minutes' silence.
Mrs, Southorn was presented with a trowel and mallet, with which she struck the foundation stone after placing newspapers and current coins under it. "To the glory of God and in memory of those who served and fell in the Great War, I declare this stone to be well and truly laid.”
After Mrs. Southorn had made a short speech, she was presented with a basket of blooms by Miss Pamela Shaw, this bringing the ceremony to a conclusion.
