ANOTHER DEFEAT FOR THE GOVERNMENT.
Action for Suspension of
the Time Limit.
NOT A VITAL MATTER,
London, Mar. 31. The Government was defeat- ed in the House of Commons this afternoon when a motion by Mr. Ramsay MacDonald for the suspension of the eleven- p.m. rule was defeated by 183 votes to 179.
Mr. Neville Chamberlain (Conservative) then moved the adjourament but this was de- feated by 185 votes to 175.
The Government defeat is unimportant as it was one of procedure and not a vital mat- ter. The only effect is to fur- ther delay Government busi- ness which is already behind- hand. The Government de- sired to dispose of a number of matters tonight, but the House cannot now sit after eleven
