FIVE STEAMERS DAMAGED: FIVE LIGHTERS SUNK.
PECULIAR ACCIDENT.
Five steamers were damaged, five cargo lighters were Bunk, and several wharves were hit, when the s.s. Lung San "ran amok" in the harbour at Shang- hai. The series of accidents' was most peculiar. The steamer was carried away helpless in the grip of tide and a strong- wind, and a remarkable distance was covered, with scenes of destruction in the wake, before her anchors proved effective. The Lung San was considerably damaged. She sprung numerous plates and her steering-gear was practically wrecked.
The ship is owned by the San Peh Steamship Co., a 2,000 tons vessel.
